The families of the evacuees in Israel need your help!
Amidst a crisis that has seen over 200,000 Israelis displaced, many families are facing extreme difficulties. Entire families are currently crammed into hotel rooms where they lack privacy, kitchens, and communal areas. In addition, children are experiencing changes to their schedule, with school days being shorter and ending at 1pm. These children have been uprooted from their homes, friends, and close community and are struggling to adapt to their new circumstances. The lack of structure is having a significant impact on their mental health.
The families of Kiryat Shmona (in Northern Israel, along the Lebanese border) are facing an uncertain future and the likelihood of an imminent war in that region is very high. As such, these families are not expected to be back in their homes for many months to come.
Our goal is to raise funds to provide structured and enriching after school programs for displaced children who are in desperate need. We aim to fill their afternoons with physical activities such as tennis lessons, ball games, and other structured activities which will include mental health support and mentoring, provided by expert coaches and staff from the Israel Tennis & Education Centers (ITEC).
During times of crisis, children are always the most vulnerable, and ITEC is the leading source of support for Israel’s children following the brutal October 7th attacks. ITEC’s centers, serving 24 communities throughout the country, are open six days a week during the critical out of school time, operating as community hubs, where children can play tennis and other recreational sports, enjoy board and tables games, socialize with friends, speak with adult mentors, and, most importantly, find moments of normalcy and joy during these extremely stressful times.
Your contribution will demonstrate the power of the generous Toronto community. We hope you'll consider being part of this transformative fundraiser because every child deserves a chance to learn, play, and grow.
Donations towards this fundraiser are eligible for a Canadian tax receipt.
